Chevy Humphrey – Arizona Science Center
Chevy Humphrey has served as The Hazel A. Hare President and CEO at Arizona Science Center since 2005, one of the leading science centers in the country, where she has developed a variety of educational programs, signature exhibitions, and partnerships to inspire and engage more than 500,000 individuals a year through science. Prior to her work at Arizona Science Center, Humphrey held similar leadership positions in major nonprofits and universities across the country, ranging from The Houston and Phoenix Symphonies to the University of Texas at Austin and University of Houston. She has also leveraged this expertise to shape the broader direction of science centers and museums worldwide in her roles as past board chair of the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) and current vice-chair of the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).

Caley Clinton, senior manager – PR, CSR and content, Komatsu
Caley Clinton is a former journalist turned PR and marketing professional. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s journalism school, Caley spent the first 10 years of her career as a newspaper reporter and magazine editor for publications including the Wisconsin State Journal and Wisconsin Law Journal. Now Caley leads global public relations for Komatsu, a leading provider of heavy equipment and related technologies for the mining and construction markets. In her role as senior manager of corporate social responsibility (CSR), PR and content, Caley is leading the charge to embed sustainability throughout the organization – starting with the launch in 2019 of a global initiative to reforest formerly mined lands.
Nick Gow, PhD, PE – Forte Dynamics
Dr. Gow is a Sr. Metallurgical Engineer for Forte Dynamics, a heap leach consulting firm based in Fort Collins, CO. He holds an Interdisciplinary Doctorate, combining Metallurgical Engineering and Chemistry, from Montana Tech, and is a Professional Engineer. He has accumulated nearly a decade of experience in the design and due-diligence of metallurgical testing campaigns for processes including comminution, gravity, flotation and leaching of base and precious metals. He routinely conducts metallurgical pilot and plant audit campaigns domestically and internationally. Gow also serves as an Affiliate Faculty member of the Metallurgical Engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines, where he has on-going research to advance the understanding of heap leach modelling.
Stacey Koon – Freeport McMoRan
Stacey is General Manager, Administration for Freeport-McMoRan Morenci Operations located in southeast Arizona. Stacey joined the company in 1999 in the Human Resources Department where she held various positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of Retirement, HR Compliance and International HR. In 2007, she became Director-Administration in Phoenix where she managed office building construction and leases. This included the Company’s corporate headquarters and other offices in Arizona and South America. In 2013, she relocated to Santiago, Chile where she served as Director-Administration and Human Resources for Freeport-McMoRan South America. In 2015, Stacey accepted her current position where she oversees the company townsite and support functions for Freeport’s largest operation in North America located in Morenci, Arizona. Currently, Stacey is on assignment supporting the Americas’ Concentrator project, which has the potential to deliver 200mm pounds of additional copper throughput to the market from enhancements related to technology initiatives. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Northern Arizona University.
Nancy is a business professional with proven success in diverse international roles which have taken her to Mexico where she is currently residing. She has over 8 years of experience in marketing, branding, sales and business development in primarily leadership positions and works now in the mining industry. Born and raised in Orange County California she studied graphic design and in her spare time she volunteers her time to the SME- currently Chair for the Mexico Section and Women in Mining in Mexico.
Dr. Abani R Samal holds PhD from SIU Carbondale, DIC & MS from Imperial College, London and M Tech (Mineral Exploration) degree from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, India. He is in mining industry since 1996. Dr. Samal is well recognized for his expertise in mineral deposit evaluation, resource estimation and advanced geostatistical applications.
He is the founder and principal of GeoGlobal, LLC, where he is providing consulting services to exploration and mining companies worldwide. Mineral deposit evaluation, applied geostatistics and mine-mill reconciliation are his technical specializations. He also provides training programs to industry professionals and academic researchers. Prior to GeoGlobal, he was a Principal with Rio Tinto and the lead geologist and Geostatistician with Pincok Allen & Holt (now RPM Global). Dr Samal is a qualified person as per international resource reserve reporting standards such as JORC and NI-43-101. Dr Samal is a Registered Member of SME and a member of CIM and Fellow of the Society for Economic Geologists (SEG) and Geological Society of America (GSA). Dr Samal, who is a past chair of the IM&AD is an active member of various committees such as, the GPAC, the Resource and Reserve committee of SME. He served in strategic committees for two terms. he also serves in various committees of the SEG and GSA. He serves in the editorial boards of two international journals: Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration and Natural Resources Research.
